Find Skate Spots
In December 2021, ShredSpots was acquired by FreeTo LLC.
This marked Luis Calvillo's first exit as a founder and shaped how he approached building products today.
By December 2020, just six months later, ShredSpots reached 50,000 downloads.
Seeing that kind of growth confirmed that this wasn’t just early traction - it was momentum.
More skaters were using the app, sharing spots, and contributing to the community.
That shift changed how Luis Calvillo thought about the product. It wasn’t just something he built - it was something people were actually using.

11 months after launching ShredSpots, the app reached 20,000 downloads.
That was the moment Luis Calvillo realized this wasn’t just a side project - there was real demand for a skateboarding discovery app.
It validated the idea and pushed him to keep building.

In 2019, Luis Calvillo launched ShredSpots, a skateboarding discovery app built to help skaters find and share spots.
At the time, he focused on solving a simple problem:
finding new places to skate.

After searching for skate spots apps in the app store, I wasn't satisfied with what I found. So created my dream skate spots app with many ways of filtering skate spots.
