MapaSports
B2B2C sports management ecosystem and matchmaking algorithm.
Hey everyone! I'm Diogo, building MapaSports here in Portugal. It's a B2B2C sports management ecosystem where clubs manage tournaments and athletes track rankings and bookings.
When architecting the platform, I faced the classic dilemma: Native Apps vs. PWA. I decided to go 100% PWA to apply what I call "App Store Evasion".
Here is why skipping the Apple/Google stores was the best financial and operational decision for us:
Margin Protection: We completely bypassed the predatory app store fees, keeping our billing directly through our integrated Stripe systems.
Instant Deployments: App store review processes can delay updates for days. With a PWA, any update we push to the server reflects instantly on the user's device.
Native Feel without the Friction: The platform runs in the browser but installs natively on iOS and Android (with push notifications and offline support), granting us total corporate independence.
I know not being in the App Store means losing some organic discovery, but for a B2B2C model driven by the clubs, the trade-off was a no-brainer.
Are you guys still building Native to get into the stores, or have you fully embraced PWAs to protect your margins? I'd love to hear your technical and business takes on this!
