Our Game API now supports matching game news to video games. That was previously not simple but using AI we now have a pretty accurate matching algorithm which allows us to show plenty of news articles on each game.
Game Brain is free for all users. That means we have to think of alternative ways to monetize the platform. We have really valuable game data for over 680,000 games across 50 platforms. So we created a free and paid API for developers to tap into this valuable data: https://gamebrain.co/api
This is the same API that powers everything on gamebrain.co including search, suggestions, and recommendation.
We also plan to work on MCP servers to make the API available to any kind of LLM like Claude or ChatGPT.

What challenges do you face in building or scaling your product?

Whenever you open a new tab, you get a recommendation for two games, one you can play immediately in the browser and one that you can play when you have a bit more time.
This brings us closer to making it easier for everybody to discover fun games to play. Any kind of feedback from this community is warmly welcome :)
We have worked a lot on cleaning up the data, enabling AI powered search, and build a unique game discovery experience BUT we're not experts when it comes to design.
We have started a 99design competition and got a wonderful design. It cost us about $3,000. Two and a half months later we implemented the design and are happy to announce a completely fresh look at https://gamebrain.co.
Given the beta stage of our project, we didn't properly back up all the data on our server and of course the disk crashed and took all the data with it. This was a preventable failure and sets us back a couple of weeks.
Lesson learned: Back up, the cost is worth it.
Today we released a custom GPT that's available to all ChatGPT users: gamebrainGPT. This helper will let you use our database to find the best matching games based on requirements that you can hash out in natural language given ChatGPTs amazing capabilities. Today we released the beta version of Game Brain - the video game discovery platform that lets players find new games to play across any kind of platform (PC, consoles, browser, and mobile games).
Currently we're evaluating how well our platform works. We have multiple ways finding new games (search, recommendation, assistants) and only if somebody leaves the site with an interesting game recommendation counts as a success.
