Open source software combined with no code to build mobile apps
I think the short version is the same reason Steve Jobs went all in on NeXT. Someone smart has already thought about the problem and solved individual components that you can leverage for future development.
Unless Governments change incentives for employment, they won't be able to attract top talent and rely heavily on the open source community for innovation.
