"What's new" a self-hosted/open-source Updates blog – without a database

Hi,

I need some help validating my open source project idea.

This morning is was thinking about adding an Updates/"What's new" page to my business's website to inform my customers about new additions to the product. I do not want to include WordPress or another complicated blogging tool just for this update page – so I started researching what simple/open-source update pages there are. And to my surprise, I did not really find good ones.

The Idea
After my discovery, the idea was spinning around in my head for some time: A super simple/lightweight Updates/"What's new" page that you can host and manage yourself, including a responsive template that can be customized. No backend, no database, just by using markdown files. Maybe looking something like this: https://updates.basecamp.com/

What do you think about it? Would you use it for your business? Do you already have an Updates page? What is an essential feature for you?

Your help is highly appreciated! Enjoy your day and create something awesome!
