Suggestions on how to make my indie hacker community platform stickier?
My platform, madepublic, is built as a way to allow users to build their products in public in an organised way.
Users can:
- Create projects with their own project pages
- Project pages let a user specify their motivation, project status, direct link, social links, tech stack, third party tools and even a task list.
- Users can post updates to their project feed (which gets shown to all on the dashboard) including images. I've also built a commenting system so users can react to these posts with emojis and discuss them. I added cross-posting directly to Twitter effortlessly whenever users want to post to their project feed too.
There are also project pages so users can search for projects based on tech stack and product area and a page for users to find the top used third-party tools.
I got a bit burnt out and returned to the project recently where I've just added the ability for users to promote their project to the front-page scrolling header for a small fee.
People are using the system and were using it while I wasn't actively developing it for a few months which is awesome but I'd love some ideas about how to get people coming back for more.
I had a few ideas:
- Allowing users to upvote and request features in the project task lists
- Creating project landing pages for users to collect sign-ups via madepublic
Does anyone have any ideas or success stories for what has worked for a community-style platform?
