Seeking Marketing/Sales Partner for B2C web app for tipping web pages
I'm seeking someone to help me find product market fit and growth for Tipalink: https://www.tipalink.com/. Tipalink helps people monetize the content they create online by accepting tips on web pages. My target markets are creatives like artists, bloggers, musicians, podcasters, etc. Think Patreon, but ad-hoc giving vs. another subscription; giving on content rather than creator; and tipping without navigating off-site. It works primarily through an embedded web app that people can add to their website with one line of JavaScript code (WordPress Plugin available). I'm a developer based in Charleston, SC and struggling at marketing. Let's help people get paid online by bringing tipping from the service economy to the digital economy.
Hi Derek, you should look into Brave (browser based on Chromium) and $BAT, they have a built-in system for tipping, you can even tip single tweets, youtube videos, reddit posts, twitch users etc...
See this as a way to expand Tipalink, not as a competitor.
They have 8mio active users per month, and growing. It will be way bigger than Patreon.
You could integrate their $BAT token into Tipalink and be a big affiliate for Brave, each time a Tipalink customer set-up $BAT as an option to receive a tip you'd get a commission.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that's possible. I'm aware of Brave (I use it) and BAT (don't use it). BAT is integrated directly into the Brave browser. I don't think you can use it to "pay" out tips - they're transmitted automatically based on the user's website viewing habits, right?
Yes you can tip any of the 300'000+ Brave verified creators and publishers directly, from the menu bar. They receive BAT in a few minutes. And soon you'll be able to unlock paywalls (for example a newspaper who has paid articles) using BAT directly.
Right, but you can only tip BAT through the Brave browser. I'm not aware of any other way to send BAT. The BAT wallet is built into Brave and is uni-directional; you can't take BAT out. I can't send someone BAT through the Tipalink embedded web app yet
If you're a Brave publisher, your tips are deposited into an account with a third party, which you can transfer from there.
As much as I love[d] Brave, I think the idea of having "one browser to rule them all" by baking in proprietary stuff is hurting more than it's helping.
As a Brave publisher, it's nice that I've been able to make a few bucks, but considering Brave makes up a small % of my traffic, I'm probably missing out on a TON of opportunities that a cross-browser tipping solution could solve (assuming the traction is there)
Huh, I wasn't aware you could transfer BAT that way; thanks for letting me know. I just enabled ads to start earning on my mobile and will look into it further when the time comes.
I think Brave is going to have a really hard time getting everyone to make the switch, notwithstanding the allure of earning some coin. Sure, it's possible. I remember the browser wars in the 90's (just old enough) and I remember making the switch to Chrome about a decade ago. But I'm not so sure it's going to be as easy as it was those last two waves.

Yeah, but only for publishers. The tokens you're granted for usage are supposed to be for you to tip out to publishers. Granted, there's a loop hole that if you're a user AND a publisher, you could very well tip yourself ;)
I think the most frustrating part about Brave and BAT, aside from the fact that it's Chromium-based and contributing to the browser monopoly, is that the sync between instances of Brave is abysmal. I've "lost" BAT numerous times as I've switched machines and all of that. Yet another reason that a browser agnostic solution will be what wins the war IMHO.
Definitely will give your stuff a look, just set up an account, but probably won't get to adding anything to my blog until later on :)
Ah, ok, good to know. I’m not much of a content creator, but I have a lot of friends who are. I’ll try to convince a few to sign up so I can tip them.
I read about those syncing problems. Reminds me of people losing their BTC (due to software issues like change lost to new address, or hardware like losing it to an old computer).
Have you ever tried Flattr? I’m not crazy about the tracking, however “private”. Also asks too much of the tippers to install an extension, which is a lot of friction for mass adoption.
That being said, I like that there are many options and some strokes may work well for some folks. Plus there’s nothing wrong with implementing multiple solutions at once. I see many of these services as complimentary.
