When I went through Y Combinator last year, my favorite part was the accountability that came from the founders in my group. There were 200+ companies in the batch, but I met with the same group of 6-8 founders, and we candidly discussed our metrics, goals, and problems.
These mastermind groups were powerful not only for the accountability they provided, but also because I could learn from others in the group. I felt like I got several years of learnings in 3 months.
There have been a few posts about mastermind groups on IH, but I'd like to propose something very specific to maximize the impact for the people involved. Before I commit to organizing this, I'd love feedback.
Here's what I'm thinking:
I've failed at many, many side projects while I was working at Pinterest and Facebook, and this is the kind of group that would have saved me tons of time/effort over the years.
I've gotten some validation from engineers in the Taro community, but I'd love to get broader reactions. How do you find community today?
