Looking for developer opinion
Hey everyone I’m creating a marketplace for developers and I want your opinion on it, I’d really appreciate it if your could read what I provided about my startup below and fill out a 2 minute type form thanks. So basically my platform is a market place for people looking to create a developer team, the way it works is you come on and create a listing for a team you specify what you need and then people can request to join your team, each team has their own group chat on the platform and you can pm people on the platform as well. All payments for projects will also go through the platform with 50% before and 50% after, also all users who signup will go through a filtering process to ensure the we have the best possible developers on the platform. What puts us apart from platforms like up work is those more established platforms are over filled with people and those platforms have a goal of earning money off of each transaction, we don’t do that also this platform isn’t just for user who want to pay developers, people who want to use it to create dev teams for open source projects or for other non profit projects can also use it
You're asking the wrong people. Freelancers hate finding work. Anything that makes it easier for them to find work will make them happy, no matter what the gimmick is.
If I am happy earning, $100/hr for my work and the platform wants to charge clients $120/hr for my time, fine. Doesn't really matter to me, I'm happy at $100/hr. Your pricing gimmick isn't that interesting to me, because it doesn't solve my true problem of needing 40 hours per week of billable hours.
The real question is, how many companies would want this service? Currently, companies reach out to existing dev shops that charge $200/hr for 1 person and use their already formed teams to build out their idea. Would a company want to hire N people at once that don't know each other or have worked together before to build whatever the company wants?
I think for most companies, dev shop pricing isn't too big of a concern because they decision makers are more focused on the quality of the output and the experience building it, not how much it actually costs (since its no their money anyways).
Go ask the companies that hire dev shops to see if they would want these teams.
