Many app developers focus on App Store Optimization (ASO) which is how to bring more people from the app store to your app listing. But not so many pay attention to how to win these people and make them download their app. To do this you need Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
CRO is basically the ratio of people who visit your app store page to the people who install your app and become users. It is mainly achieved through A/B testing on various elements like your app logo, screenshots, etc.
Since the logo is the first thing people see about your app, it is extremely important in forming the first impression. And as the saying goes, the first impression is the last impression.
To make an effective logo that creates a positive first impression you need to keep it clean and simple. Also, it should be easy to recognize and reflect what’s your app about. Finally, you need to make it match your brand’s color scheme to have a consistent brand identity.
One more thing I usually do to make logos more effective is by analyzing the competition. I research the apps that appear when I search keywords related to the app I am interested in. Then, I try to identify common patterns and look for ways I could differentiate and make the logo stand out. Be careful though, not to make it so different that it stops relates to the industry you are in!
The screenshots that appear on your app’s page are basically a preview of what the user should expect from the app. To use them effectively, you should show the benefits the users will have by using the app, clearly. Show the most critical parts of your app and include a small sentence describing them. Also, if you have a strong UI/UX design make sure to show that too!
It’s true that not many people read the description of apps. Not all of it, at least. Therefore, you should still optimize this element. Many people read only the first few lines of the description (I am one of them!). You can capitalize that by mentioning the most important parts of your app there.
Conversion Rate Optimization could also save you a lot of money if you use paid ads to bring traffic to your app, by turning more visitors into users.
I made a checklist in Notion with (currently) 22 points to help you optimize your App' Conversion Rate. You can find it for free here
Nice post!
Thank you! Do you usually care about optimizing your app listing?
I think it’s premature to say that I usually do, because I did more backend stuff. I launched a mobile app recently and I try to learn more about ASO.
But as I read until now is something that I would constantly try to improve. It’s about this app https://cmevo.com/ro/portfolio/aplicatie-ordine-publica/, but is for Romanian public.
Interesting app! Did you do the visuals yourself?
Are you referring at design screens or about screenshots from play store?
Screenshots, logo etc
Someone helped me with the logo. Excepting that, the rest I worked myself.
I searched for some inspiration over the internet and this is the result.
Awesome
Thanks! Do you try to optimize your app's page on the store?
