The title is a little bit click-baity, but it's also true. I started Orbiter with a friend in January. We weren't sure if we would target non-technical folks wanting to host websites or if we would go after developers.
After the first month, nearly all of our customers were developers and all our paying customers were developers. Still, we wondered if we should go all-in on developers or not for two reasons.
Ultimately, the thing that made up our minds was our history. For years now, we have both worked on developer tools in our day jobs. We have marketed to developers and built for developers. We are part of many developer communities. We know developers.
So, earlier this week we decided to go all-in on focusing on developers. We are going all in with eyes wide open. We know that developers don't like advertising. They don't like being sold to. But they do like tools that solve real problems. And Orbiter is that.
Fingers crossed. I hope the pain is worth is!
