Hey Indie Hackers π
I wanted to share a small tool I built that I've been using myself
for a while β RandTap (randtap.com).
What is it?
RandTap is a free collection of random data generator tools aimed
at developers, testers, and designers who need realistic fake data
quickly β without signing up for anything or hitting rate limits.
Current tools:
- π± Random Phone Number Generator β realistic US phone numbers for
testing forms, databases, and sign-up flows
- π Random Address Generator β fake but realistic US addresses for
development and QA
- π Random Password Generator β strong, customizable passwords instantly
- π’ Random Number Generator β integers and decimals with full range control
- π€ Random Letter Generator β uppercase, lowercase, or mixed sequences
- π¨ Random Color Generator β HEX and RGB palettes for design projects
- πΎ Random Animal Generator β random animals with facts, useful for
placeholder content
Everything runs in the browser. No backend calls for your data,
no account required, no limits.
Why I built it
Honestly, I got tired of googling "fake phone number for testing"
every time I needed one and landing on sites full of ads, popups,
and dark patterns. I wanted something clean, fast, and focused.
So I built it. It took a few weeks, started with the phone number
generator, and gradually added the other tools as I needed them
for my own projects.
What's next
I'm planning to expand the toolkit significantly. On my roadmap:
- Random Name Generator
- Random Email Generator
- Random UUID / GUID Generator
- Random IP Address Generator
- Country and city-specific phone number generators
- Bulk generation (download as CSV)
Would love your feedback
If you're a developer or tester, I'd genuinely appreciate you
giving it a try and letting me know:
- Which tools do you find most useful?
- What's missing that you wish existed?
- Any edge cases the current generators don't handle well?
Happy to answer any questions below. Thanks for reading π
