I built a seating chart maker for the relationship problems spreadsheets cannot solve

Seating charts look like a layout problem, but the difficult part is usually the relationships.

Someone needs to sit near a friend. Two guests should stay apart. A student needs a front-row seat. Every manual change can create another conflict somewhere else.

I built EasySeatingChart to make this process visual and easier to manage. You can add tables, drag people into seats, and define rules for who should sit together or apart. The tool works directly in the browser, so people can try it without creating an account first.

The first version is live, and I am now improving the planner around real wedding, classroom, and event workflows.

I would especially appreciate feedback on:

- Which seating rules are most useful?

- What part of creating a seating plan takes the most time?

- What would make you trust this tool for a real event?

    That’s exactly what I’m trying to validate. My current hypothesis is that the first real users will be couples planning their own weddings and small event organizers who have a real guest list, a few sensitive “together/apart” constraints, and don’t want complicated event software. I don’t have enough completed-event data yet to claim that confidently. I’m now looking at stronger usage signals such as adding real guest lists and rules, completing an arrangement, and exporting or printing the final plan. The free planner requires no signup and keeps the planning process in the browser, which I hope lowers the trust barrier. What would you need to see before trusting a tool like this with a real event?

    The relationship constraints are the interesting part. Which users are actually willing to trust EasySeatingChart with a real event, rather than using it just to experiment with layouts?
