How many side projects have you bailed on?
I've lost count at the number of failed side projects I've had. The last two I've had to bail out for some reason or other. Mainly due to the fact I came the realization that its more than likely, not a viable business solution, and it's not worth the pain, time and effort. I think I'm getting better at realising when to call it quits.
My question is at what point do you realize that what you're working on is doomed for failure before calling it quits or do you just follow through anyway?
There's been many small ideas that I've bailed on, and 1 big project which I invested a lot of time in (but also learned a lot from!). The major problem in most of my ideas was that the success of the product relied on a large user base and enterprise partnerships to be useful.
Ex. if I thought of a delivery app, I need to have decent number of users using the app, then I need to have partnerships with restaurants. Users won't use the app if there aren't many restaurants. Restaurants don't want partnership if there aren't lots of users. Managing all that would be a huge waste of my time.
I've learned to think a lot more about what I'm going to make and the logistics, from beginning to end, before I start doing anything else.
