Hey friends,
From humble beginnings on Gumroad and HackerNews to a surprising twist with Reddit, last two weeks gave me motivation to keep working on the tool.
About Roomy:
Roomy is a macOS app I am crafting for developers. It's designed to clear out those coding clutter - Xcode derived data, node_modules folders, maven artifacts, Docker-related files etc.. My goal was simple: make a developer's digital space cleaner.
The Humble Beginning:
I excitedly launched Roomy on Gumroad and announced it on HackerNews but the response was just 2 or 3 downloads. Probably I've missed something but still, it was discouraging.
The Reddit Magic:
On a whim, I shared Roomy on the /macapps subreddit (post). This time it was different - it got 103 upvotes, a lot of comments (even the cleanmymac guys added one) and 100+ downloads from Gumroad and Github.
100 might sound modest to some but for me it's an ocean. Every download was like a pat on the back, a nod of encouragement.
Key Takeaways:
Looking Ahead:
Though the initial version is paused, my spirits are high, and the journey is still on. If you've thoughts about Roomy or just wish to connect, drop me a message. Alternatively, we can have deeper chats on our Discord.
Congratulations, this was something I once spent hours on, is there a waitlist now or how can I stay posted ( I don't really use Discord)
The alpha version is still available here - https://tdermendjievft.gumroad.com/l/roomy-alpha . When you download it, I will have your email in Gumroad's Audience.
Btw, The Curator's LP looks fabulous.
Hello Teo, I was able to get it yesterday, I also used it, thank you :), would you be interested in getting early user access
I joined the waitlist
Congratulations on your journey with Roomy and the progress you've made in a short period of time.
