I've recently partnered up with a friend of mine who owns a personalised gift business https://DustAndThings.com
We've developed an early stage SASS product which encourages visitors to his website to sign up to the email list, increasing subscribe rate. The USP is that it does this by offering a free personalised product, currently a wooden keyring with the customers name on it. The offer is displayed on an exit intent popup.
The product is aimed at online businesses who wish to grow their email list. They would sign up to our SASS service, connect their mailchimp account to create a popup (which we're calling a "Carrot"), where we create a popup and produce a html tag for them to paste into the head of their website. The offer would appear to their customers as a "Sign up now and receive this free personalised product as a thank you". The visitor signs up, gets subscribed to the list and redirected to the cart page on our supplier's website in a new tab, which eventually flows through to a shopify checkout page. The user pays postage and packaging only on a product usually sold for much higher.
I've attached example of what the popup looks like on DustAndThings.com currently, alternatively you can go check it out yourself.
I'd love to get some feedback on whether you think this is an offer that online retailers, bloggers, etc would get on board with?
Would love some questions and first impressions.
Thanks All :)
Building and growing an email list can be a challenge when the process is at its very start, once a standard procedure has been set, it gets easier to generate leads. Many tools have been launched in the market for marketers and salespeople to generate marketing and sales intelligence for their respective purposes.
Since I am in the B2B sector, I am more inclined towards brute force lead generation using paid methods rather than more modernistic tactics such as landing pages, pop-ups, and lead magnets because I am of the view that businessmen hardly sign up for marketing emails. For businesses like mine, it takes a lot of trial and error to find out and set the best combination of tools and practices for carrying out the email lead generation process for a company.
After I tested a few of the tools at the beginning of my business, I was not satisfied with a few because they were quite costly which affected my ROI on the converted leads. After much trial and error and working with a few more tools, I started using Aeroleads which I learned about through an article on business lead generation and have been using for a while now. It is a chrome extension that leverages platforms like LinkedIn, Angellist, Crunch Base, and other partners to find out the contact information of prospects for all types of businesses, B2C and B2B since these sites contain information valid on both businesses and individuals. Moreover, it didn’t cost as much as the other tools which has put my ROI on an upwards trend already. I have been successful in generating relevant and verified leads for my business with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good paid lead generation tool as well.

Thanks for the reply! Maybe it would be wise to outline the postage and package early in the user experience? Maybe outlining the original retail price early in the process too?

Yeah that sounds good! We'll run some tests to see how it affects the conversion rates and figure out some good copy.
Thanks :)
