Content Growth Framework: How To Operationalize A Content Engine

My takeaways from Foundation’s article👇

  1. An effective content strategy is more than just a content calendar, it's rooted in a four-step framework:
  • Research
  • Creation
  • Distribution
  • Optimization

Before creating a single piece of content, spend most of your time researching your audience, your industry, and the channels they hang out in.

Your research should drive:

  • what content to create
  • what format to use
  • what channels to promote it on

  1. To find the best distribution channels, create a two-by-two matrix to rank their:
  • audience fit (how often does your audience spend time here)
  • competition level (how difficult is it to compete here)

You're looking for channels with high audience fit and low competition.

  1. Optimizing your content begins in the creation phase not after.

When creating your content, consider how well you're aligning with the intent of your reader.

  • does it align with a step in the buyer's journey
  • does it match the reader's search intent
