Hi Indie Hackers,
I thought I'd post the method that I used to achieve 5 interviews with CMO's of large global organisations to validate my idea in the hope that these could potentially help the rest of the community.
Although CMO's will be the business buyer of the software solution that my team creates, the solution will also aim to solve some of the challenges associated for attendees of virtual events.
For this reason, I'm also conducting a survey of individuals that have attended large virtual events - I'd really appreciate community support so if you find the below post useful, I'd love if you could complete the below survey...
Right, let's get to it.
One of my pet hates is when founders try to tackle challenges at scale when they're starting out. As Paul Graham (Founder of YC) often cites, "At the beginning, you have to do things that don't scale". So the key when sending a cold email to request validation interviews is to understand that the person on the other end of the email is a human being and in my case, a ridiculously busy human being of a $6bn organisation that barely has a second in the day. This is where my lesson's from being a sales person come in really handy - teach, tailor, take control. In this case, we're going to focus on "Tailor" and would appreciate the community's feedback on how I could have improved my process too...
My rep isn't yet high enough to post proof pictures of the replies I got but if you want proof, ping me a private message
Firstly, let's quickly run through how I got their email addresses...
Alternatively, if you don't have Skrapp (dot) io, you can use seamless[dot]ai to search for people on LinkedIn and download their email addresses one-by-one.
After you've done that, start your first email. An example of the email I sent is in the header of this post.
The middle paragraphs are generic but my view is that people aren't stupid, they know you're going to contact a bunch of people and in-fact, I feel that's what entices them more - you're talking to their peers! It's a herd effect right?! What do you guys & gals think?
So, my view is to make sure that you're tailoring your email to maximum effect. Search their name on:
If you can't find anything of substance then aim to find something that can create some sort of connection - is the individual a successful female? They are likely to be involved in some feminist initiatives. Are you involved in any feminist initiatives? There's a connection!
Would appreciate the community's feedback - what approaches are you guys taking? What's working and what's not? Do you think I could have improved my email? How?
Thanks guys
As mentioned, would appreciate if people could complete the below survey if you felt my post helped...
