A humble request

Hello beloved Indie Hackers!
This is a humble request to 🔥 roast🔥 my landing page, and if you so desire any additional linked pages. If you are feeling very ambitious, I would also love additional feedback on the app itself if the log in does not frighten you (I personally guarantee zero promo emails).
Please don't worry about feelings or stepping on toes, just tell it like it is!
Here are some templated responses to post. Feel free to copy/paste, modify, or add to them for your comment reply:
When I saw the main page, I felt physically sick to my stomach. I have literally never seen anything so awful. Please try to ...
Anyone who has created such an abysmal nightmare should be institutionalized. Good luck in the system ...
After going into a bit more depth exploring your app, I am convinced your mother did not love you. How you come up with ideas can only be explained by deep-seated childhood problems stemming from a young age ...
When I saw the design I thought it was pretty terrible, until I started to read the code which is infinitely worse ...
Any feedback will be used to shape my upcoming application to the AppSumo marketplace for Motion Storyline (www.motionstoryline.com). Thank you all so much for being part of an awesome community, and I am super excited to read!!!

    Howdy, @ebenryanmallory!

Here's a bit of feedback for you...

ONE. I may just not be the target audience, but I'm a bit confused about what exactly the product is. The line "EASY TO MAKE, ENGAGING VIDEO + PUBLIC FACING DOCUMENTATION" makes me question if it's a video product, a documentation product, or both in one?

I actually think the subheader, "Create video across any social media format from your documentation or product" makes me more easily understand what the product is! This seems like it could be the main header, not a subheader.

TWO. @Jajaygrow is right that the play button will be clicked to play a video by folks who work in technology, but maybe not by folks not familiar with the icon.

Even as somebody who works in technology, at first I thought the play button was just an image because of how the trial is styalized (seems more like a design, less like an actual play button) so I might make that look more like a video (or add the text "Play video" or something like that).

THREE. I clicked through and watched some of the video walkthroughs farther down the page to get a better idea of what the product is, and I'm starting to get it.

But the landing page should get this idea across without me having to scroll and click around. A landing page's most important job is to make the visitor understand exactly what the product/service is so they can know if it's something they need or not!

FOUR. This is a "best practice" thing so it's what folks usually say but I don't think it's necessarily always true. But...most successful landing pages are focused on having visitors take a single action. In your case, that action is probably creating an account?

You also ask for folks to submit their email address. I'd consider removing that to make the page simpler and not split the attention for visitors of what they should do next.

FIVE. At my company, we use HubSpot, including their Services suite which include a knowledge base. Here's HubSpot's KB landing page.

I think doing a bit of competitor analysis is always a good idea simply to see what other folks are doing to be successful. And you know HS knows how to build a high-conversion landing page haha.

Obviously they have an enormous team to make everything they do pretty much perfect, but I think there's a lot to gleam from this for you. They do incorporate video into their KB as well.

SIX. It's great that you're asking for initial feedback here! This is always helpful to get the thoughts of more experienced marketers.

But at the end of the day, even the best marketers know that most successful marketing stems from experimentation! That means going through the building, launching, measuring cycle over and over again and creating a good system for doing that.

    That would mean something like...

    • Launch this landing page and start driving traffic. Make sure you have some sort of analytics tool installed. Google Analytics is free but there are other popular analytics tools for IHs like Fathom Analytics. Don't be a perfectionist; get the landing page solid, then get eyeballs on it!
    • Use a tool like HotJar to watch anonymous videos of folks using your page, see heat maps, get feedback, etc. There are lots of tools to be able to do this, this is just one I've used before and have had success with.
    • Make adjustments based on analytics and feedback and continue this cycle to improve the funnel.

Hope this helps, Eben. Good luck! :)

So sorry - not sure how to fix my original post, try motionstoryline.com

Needs a demo video on the landing page.
You've used icons and play buttons etc... to the layman, these don't mean anything.

So do I make videos in your platform? or documentation? Your headline is confusing.

The vides that do play, they're too slow. I.e. white screen for like 2 -3 seconds or something... It's not load time, because video is playing.... the same applies between the transitions... too much empty white screens.

Your main menu - the menu items don't mean anything. Make them meaningful - highlight the big call to action.

I did login and try it out. Sorry don't have time right now, might try again later. But I can see UX might need some work. Looks like you're off to a good start though, how long you been at it?

    :)

Thank you 🙏 🙏 - valid actionable points and all can be implemented, thank you so much
My idea completely revamped, so for this messaging and video aspect maybe about 6 months?
