The media (and Instragram) keeps pushing this romantic idea that digital nomads move around every few weeks, but it's not based on reality.
The average trip duration on http://nomadlist.com is 116 days, or 3.8 months!
I was never truly productive while jumping around.
No routine, end up forcing me to make more decisions every day.
This is so true. When I moved in Mexico to start my digital nomad adventure I felt very unproductive for the first two weeks because I was still in the "settling" mode. Moving around all the time will result in 0 progress in everything you're trying to make.
I've had lots of two-week trips where I got very little done, too. Considering spending some time abroad for 1-2 months at a time starting next year, based on @levelsio's advice. It's hard to get things done without a regular routine you've settled into.
So that's 116 days in one location on average (given the normal Western 3 month tourist visa it might not be)? I feel though that just from a productivity standpoint it would make total sense, as traveling totally fucks up my output for a good week. Thanks!
