Spike
YouTube alerts when a rival hits N views in T hours
I run YouTube faceless channels. I already know my competitors. The job is simple: when a topic takes off on their channels, I want hours to plan and film the same day – not a recap tomorrow, when only leftovers are left. I was late too often.
So I built Spike.
You add a rival, a view number, and a time window. When a new upload crosses that line – 3,000 in the first hour, 10,000 in 24 – it lands in the dashboard. Title, count, how many views were added in the last hour. Optional signed webhook. You don’t bring YouTube API keys.
Just launched. Trial is 3 channels / 7 days, no card. Plans from $9, billed by channels, not by pings. Product Hunt is Tuesday.
If you run faceless or sit on a small competitor list: what do you actually use to notice a breakout in time?

Depends on the niche, but for faceless channels this is pretty common practice.
A lot of topics have a short window while there’s still demand. If I noticed a competitor’s video starting to take off and could jump on the topic quickly, I had a much better shot at capturing that demand. Wait too long, and it was often too late.
I actually built a small script for my own channels before Spike that notified me when a competitor’s video crossed a certain view threshold. Spike is basically that idea turned into a product.
So I don’t have a public "+X% views in 4 hours" chart. The value is simpler: I already know who to watch, and I don’t have to manually check which video suddenly started taking off. The signal just comes to me.
Not yet – Spike just launched, so I don’t have enough user data to measure that yet. This is based on my own experience running channels.
The main value is getting confirmation that a topic is actually hot while there’s still demand. If you can act on that signal before competitors do, you have a better chance of capturing more views.
That makes sense. I’d be interested in seeing what you learn once users start acting on those alerts. If you’re open to it, what’s the best email to reach you on?
Sure. You can reach me at direct@spike dot yt or DM me on X: @externalapi. I’ll be happy to share what I learn as more users start using Spike.
Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
